My wife and I flew back from Honolulu to Seattle in January, I won't
name the carrier, but the 'direct' flight was via Salt Lake City, Utah.
With about a two hour lay over.
Sardine's in the can seating, too.
And a cautionary note to you all, don't even think of being over-weight
on any of your luggage by even a quarter pound.

Hmmm ... I think it was United that detoured our direct flight from
Kauai back over to Hawaii and had us sit in the airport for 3 hours
while they found a plane to get us back to the mainland. The first plane
they found became "unavailable" so we were entertained by walking from
terminal to terminal. They finally got the original plane "fixed".
I'm not sure it was the original plane ride to the island or the air
conditioner in the rental car, but I started the week with a sore
throat. I noticed other passengers were downing medications while
getting on the plane hoping to avoid illness. There seems to be a whole
medical market segment catering to air travelers
