Check the Hotel Canada (!), a few blocks from the Statzione Centrale. I was 
there about 12 years ago, and it was exceptionally clean and very 
affordable. It is a Best Western (!), so you should be able to get it on the 
web easily.

It could have changed, but 12 years in Italian time isn't much.

There was a small trattoria a block or so away, Benedetto's, that we 
enjoyed.
