If he was shooting at ISO 400 or 800, a big-honkin flash-gun,
like a METZ, with the Stofen will do a wonderful job of
supplemental lighting. The advantage to this configuration in
his usage, is that he's lighting up the entire room--not just
the subject. As such, there is little light fall-off (just
enough to give the image some depth).

Very typical setup and not unlike what I do with my E-1 with
Vivitar 285HV and Lumiquest Ultrabounce.

Even with the flash pointed straight up, the diffusion dome
throws light everywhere. As long as you can see the dome, the
flash will get to you. It knocks off a good 2-3 stops of
exposure, though.

Another advantage to the Omnibounce/Ultrabounce is that it takes
the edge off of the flash for the subject's eyes. You don't
blind him/her with your flash. Since the flash is lighting up
everything around you it doesn't appear to be as blindingly
bright. Rarely will you get a red-eye with a
Omnibounce/Ultrabounce.

I love using the Ultrabounce on my 285HV. Rarely do I ever take
a picture anymore without the modifier. It has revolutionized
the quality of my pictures and combined with a little bit of
dragged shutter, my "cave-dweller" days are over.

A 15 meter ceiling is definitely a stretch. If it is of a dark
surface you won't get any reflection off of it. But if it's a
white marble or plaster ceiling it is amazing how much
fill-reflection you really do get with it. I shoot in a room
that has a 20 meter ceiling, painted white, and if I'm shooting
from the main floor the ceiling reflection gives me a very even
lighting with very little visible light fall-off.
Unfortunately, as the room is almost 50 meters across I have to
go to high ISO if I'm doing a wide-angle full-room shot.
