I have the 50mm macro, but haven't tried putting on a 25mm tube to get 1:1.
All I have right now is the telecopic tube which is too much for it. I'll
have to get a 25mm tube and give it a go. Working distance would be pretty
tight...

Should be great, certainly better than the 90/2 that close.
The 50/3.5 with a 25mm extention tube is excellent from 1:2 to 1:1, as
well. Cheaper, less gear, but less working distance, too.
