I don't know if you think this odd, but one of my greatest desires,
if not the greatest, in the places/things-to-see category, is the
living stromatolites in Shark Bay.
It began with seeing Attenborough's 'Life on Earth' when I must have
been all of 11 or 12. I'd mark that TV series (which lead on to so many
others) as a significant moment in my life...not for any career choice
(IT Help Desk drone and budding 'Project Mananger' - world-changing
career path, hey?) but just for opening me up to a living, alien
world that didn't include so many bloody people! (I'm not really a
people person - a bit of an introvert - though I can fake otherwise
to a degree). The stromatolites were the thing I remember most, and
wanted to see most (second is Galapagos), though I've never really
understood why (and have a policy of not looking at those innards
too closely lest they begin to look back into me :-) ).
If you see them (the stromatolites) take a piccie or two for me. I'll
hold back the frustrated desire with some vicarious living.
