Changes were not all made at the same time:

1052xx - Black nose with plastic cap and NEUTRAL filter, but "1:3.5 f=16mm"
text on front ring and "LENS MADE IN JAPAN" engraved on underside of metal
mount - as on the earlier version.

What I see is consistant with an earlier answer:

1016xx - O56(O2), Y48(Y2), L39(UV) - Silver nosed lens, with metal lens
cap (cap labeled 16)
1064xx - O56(O2), Y48(Y2), NEUTRAL - Black nosed lens , with plastic lens
cap (cap labeled 16 or 18)

The only shiny silver on the silver nosed lens is the ring just inside of
the apperture setting ring. The front element ring on the silver nosed says
"1:3.5 f=16mm" while the black nosed says "16mm 1:3.5". The silver nosed
lens has "LENS MADE IN JAPAN" engraved into the side of the silver mount.
The black nosed lens has "JAPAN" engraved.

The lenses look to be idential sizes and idential construction. Probably the
front element ring label is the most obvious difference. I don't know if all
of the changes were made at the same time.

Dear 16mm fisheye users :
I got interested in the Zuiko analog 16mm fisheye lens, but have one
question :

The archives
http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/hardwares/classics/olympusom1n2/shared/
zuiko/htmls/fish16mm.htm
say that the built- in filters for this lens were
first version : L39, Y48, O56
later version : replaced L39 by ND

Both lenes however seem to be marked with 'neutral' on the filter wheel
for the L39 and ND positions respectively ?

Therefore my question is the L39 or ND filter permanently engaged or is
there a fourth position without anything ?

How can I differ between old and new vesrion of the lens if both are
labelled neutral on the outside filter selector?

Any hints are welcome
