My thoughts exactly - might leave it a couple of weeks & resubmit after a
little photoshopping - see what they make of that...

Too soft? Don't they say in their guidelines not apply ANY sharpening to
your images? Whether it be in camera, RAW conversion or part of scanning
process? It then seems a little unfair to reject things that are too soft?
