The test was really about whether it made a difference if the chicken
was thawed or frozen. The aircraft used were more for "show" than true
testing, as they were what they could find in an aircraft boneyard
nearby. The conclusion drawn was that within their limits of
measurability, both the frozen and the thawed chickens effectively
expended their energy almost equally, so as far as they were concerned
it made little difference whether they were thawed or frozen for testing
purposes. That part of the testing wasn't done on the aircraft, but
rather against a vertical, solid target that the chickens did not
penetrate.
Maybe you should email them. There was recently an episode that resulted
from a lot of people sending them mail about how they'd not done a test
thoroughly, and they revisited it with participation from three
different viewers.
