On the topic of ice, one of our assistants told this story today at lunch
about her father's 'OnStar' experience. Her father was out ice fishing when
his truck began to page him, he opened the door and the OnStar operator,
sounding somewhat alarmed asked if he was OK. Puzzled, he asked why. 'Well
sir you are in the middle of the lake!' came the reply. Apparently the call
center is in the southern US and OnStar's locators can't differentiate
between ice and water.
