I agree with Walt, having just retrieved mine from its safe place! Trying a
Lin Pol filter against a LCD screen, it doesn't matter which side faces the
screen, at a certain angle the filter blacks out. Trying a Cir Pol filter,
the blackout only shows with a particular side facing the LCD (with the
opposite side facing th3e LCD, I see slight blue or yellow tints as the
filter is rotated). With the Ring cross Pol, the same as with the Cir Pol
(save that the two parts of the Ring Cross Pol are polarized at 90 deg to
each other - as intended).

Both appear to be circular. The "Olympus System Manual for Macrophoto
Group" is less than elucidting, saying only, "Ring Cross Filter POL, a
cross-polarizing filter which minimizes direct reflections from the T10 Ring
Flash 1 for highly reflective subject matter."

However, looking through mine at a reflective surface, I find that both the
inner and outer parts kill or diminish reflections only when viewed from one
side of the filter, but not the other. It's been my experience that linear
polarizers kill reflections whichever way you look through them, while the
circular sort work in only one direction.

As always, I could be wrong.
