There are actually standards for this, followed by some printing houses.
They are made by the Office of Standard Standards Organization, or some
other Monty Python-esque group.
Basically, it calls for a matte finish 18% grey. That may have changed to a
12% grey, as has other grey things.
Lighting is also standardized, but I don't know to what. Ideally, it should
be the lighting where viewing occurs.
