What Wayne said..
Your aperture should be between f4 and f8 in most cases. It determines how
bright or thick the traces will be ie at f8 your traces will be thinner and
dimmer.
I never used dark cloth to cover the lens, because of vibration concerns. In
my experience, a piece of cardboard in front of it was more than adequate and
it was easier to use.
