Interesting development. This used to be Wallace Photo products and the 
product was promoted primarily for accurate exposure determination; note 
the 18% transmission factor. The old man died and things were in flux 
last time I checked it out. Now the same basic product has morphed into 
a white balance tool. Clever...

To make your own, find one of those caps off a defunct video camera. If 
you are lucky, you may be able to find one that fits one of your filter 
ring sizes directly. If not, just find an old or useless filter, take 
out the glass, cut the white material to fit and mount it. Probably not 
as good as an ExpoDisc, but much cheaper. The one from my old Sony fits 
rather well on the 62mm filter rings of a couple of my lenses for the 300D.
