It was a very pleasant part of my day. A laid-back gathering of three at the
Anchor Inn, on a beautiful afternoon with lots of boats bobbing in the
harbor, with some local micro-brew in hand. Vacation talk, photo talk,
talk-talk. I wish there could have been more time, and perhaps next time
there will be. If I am a southern gentleman, then Moose is a paradigm of
California cool.
And now he knows that all those cell phone commercials about how extensive
networks are and how you can "hear me now" just about everywhere are so
much, ah, well, excrement of a bull. More than a year ago we dumped our
regular cell service, for which we were paying $40 a month, and went with
Tracfone because with Tracfone we get the same nearly universal lack of
service we got with U.S. Cellular, but for about $8 a month.
If you come to Maine, don't rely on your cell phone. It works in cities and
towns, but not much of Maine is covered by cities and towns. This is a good
thing.
