Index - Para 1 - Katrina and pets
        Para 2 - Walmart email
Para 3 - Macro photography of nephew
Para 4 - bloody, buggery CD drive
        Para 5 - scanner and OM1, 50/1.4, B&W (C41)

(Hey, at least it lets you skip the bits you're not interested
in ;-) )

Being part-listowner of a dog-list, I know that there's
been lots of mobilisation from Kennel Clubs (including
the AKC), animal welfare organisations, Breed Rescue
groups, and so-on in the interests of getting pets looked
after and out of there where necessary. Just thought I'd
let you know, Philippe, that pet-related efforts are
occurring.

In relation to something Walt mentioned, I heard Wal-Mart
is also enabling email access to anyone in their stores
down that way, so as to help people get word out that
they're okay, amongst other things, I guess.

As mentioned previously, I've got nothing OM(Olympus) lately
to contribute - everything is happening with the Cannon
(misspell intentional, because I thought it was better than
the "*"s :-) ). I've got *heaps* of photos of my new(ish)
nephew (born in May), some facial bits taken with the 100/2.8
macro, which are... interesting. I like them, but I'm not sure
my sister will.

I've also got a problem with my new(ish) HP PC in the CD drive
(or the OS, or some other aspect of the hardware) while ripping
CD's to the PC, discovered while filling the iPod with my
CD collection, which makes me now worry as I was about to
use it for archiving/backing up my photo collection. It
creates intermitten skips and static on the track, though
the track appears the right length. It's driving me nuts at
the moment, though I've a few more things to try before I
inertia-test it.

I've also, as previously mentioned, begun scanning old
negatives via the new(ish) Epson 4990. I'm discovering that
there is something about the OM1, Zuiko 50/1.4, Kodak Black +
White (C41) combination that I've expressed joy in before
that I am not getting via the Cannon digital ensemble. This
is somewhat disturbing, and needs some immediate investigation
and further testing...just as soon as I fix up that bloody,
buggery CD drive.

Bored? That's okay - I'm just typing to avoid starting work. ;-)

Cheers,
Marc
