The black 2Ns with the machine made Maitani nameplate on the back were
bodies given to dealers who did certain $ worth of business with Olympus
Corp. in the early 80's.
The signature is an authentic reproduction of his signature. A year or two
ago, I gave away a bunch of these name plates w/ matching cutout leather to
list members.
One day at work, I heard Mr. Maitani was in the building, so I took 2 - OM-2
back covers down to the South Wing, introduced myself (though he spoke no
English). He saw the back covers and knew exactly what was going on. He
reached into his breast pocket, pulled out a metal tipped scribe and etched
his signature onto both backs.
One is on my black OM-2. The other is on the OM-2 of a good friend of mine.
