These Olympus happenings seem to be springing up all over the place and
having participated in one in London a couple of years ago, I know they can be
a
good time. What follows is way outside the box, so reading beyond this point
is only for the brave of heart.

This one may not be on the "to do" list of many of the list members. You
know those members who have written or mental lists of things they would like
to do before they go to their greater reward. Having grown up in San Marcos,
Texas, what use to be a small central Texas town with a beautiful river
running through it, I have spent a lot of time in and around that river and
others. Yes, that would be fishing, swimming, skiing, snorkeling, scuba
diving,
photographing or just sitting on the bank dangling my feet in the cool water.
You might say I have river water in my blood.

One of the things I've always wanted to do and never have done is to go on a
rafting trip down a major river. My intention is to have that item marked
off my list about this time next year. That would have happened this year,
however my summer got too jammed up early on, so it was put off until next
year. As I write this, Moab Paper company in conjunction with a number of
other
sponsors, is in the midst of their "Moab Experience" river trip, which is a
six day inclusive photography experience floating through Canyon Lands
National Park and other stuff out of Moab, Utah. Take a look at the Moab
website
(_www.moabpaper.com_ (http://www.moabpaper.com) ) and look at the "Moab
Experience." The pricing this year (which, like everything else, will likely
go up
next year) is very favorable when you look at what is included in the
package. I did talk to them about the possibility of getting a group rate,
however
they indicated that would not be possible. This is a popular trip and one
they have no trouble filling.

So, here is the deal. I'm in. I'll be there and be wet next year. Check
your schedule, check your wallet, start saving your nickels, dimes and
pennies.
Check to see all the other stuff that is happening in and around Moab. If
you are interested and can see making it happen next year, post that to this
list and let's see if we can't get a bunch of Zuikoheads on the river in Utah
next summer. I have contacted them to see when registration will open for
the 2006 trip and will let the list know. Again, if this sounds like fun and
something you would like to do, post your interest to the list. This is not
a commitment to which you will be held, but rather an indication of interest
to other list members.
