I have never heard the myths Winsor, but most of the long-lasting cars
that I have seen have been diesels. I have not had excess oil
consumption on any of my diesels, either "conventional" turbo-diesels
or common-rail. I admit that my little Beemer 320d has a spare oil
container in its tool box, but it is unopened after 18,000 miles; in
addition, the car has 3,000 miles to its first service.

When we *really* need biodiesel we can grow the necessary crops to
produce it. We don't do this yet because we still have not caught on
to the fact that fossil fuels are running out; there is plenty of
capacity for vegetable oil crops, especially in the open spaces of the
US and Russia but also in the EU, where we are producing more food than
we need (and not shipping the surplus to where it is needed). Once
that production is in place the price will be reasonable, subject of
course to the tax policies of your country.

Oly content: I might try a little (or big) photographic project to
illustrate the over-production of cereals in the rich countries...
