Chris,

Thanks for the first-person account of some of the early days of RADAR.
It's great to hear of these things from those who were there. When I
went through Navy Electronics school in the early 70s, lots of the
history of RADAR was still being taught, with due credit given to the
British. The story about the shipment of the magnetron to the US was
also mentioned (as someone else here has already recounted).

Re: the C360 I recommended this to a friend a while ago, and she's still
a friend. :-) Can't be half bad, I'd guess. Frankly, she loves the
little camera. It has enough flexibility that she can play about a bit
if she wants, and it's simple enough that she's almost never had a
problem in getting snapshots as she wants them. It gets *lots* of use,
as she takes photos with it to document school program activities all
the time. They translate nicely with little post processing for a
printed newsletter that she helps to produce.

Some people might be interested to see my father-in-law's take on the
birth of radar -- I sent him Graham's photo of the stone commemoration.
He was a technician with the new technology in the Royal Air Force
during the Second World War; I hope that no one objects to the
(friendly I am sure) reference to "Yanks".

Before I get on to his comments, he is interested in a C360 or 370 as a
small P & S digital machine. Has anyone any comments about these
little cameras?

Chris
