I wouldn't John. The automatic gearbox reduces your fuel efficiency by
a margin of about 20% in my, admittedly limited, experience. I would
really have liked a 5-speed automatic in my little 320d, but it would
have brought the "combined" mpg down to less than 40 -- versus 50 with
the 6-speed manual. Mind you, top gear with the manual is running at
35mph per 1,000rpm ...
