LOL, more like Meade providing the mount, drive and guide scope for the
Takahashi :)

Thanks John for taking the time to explain the design of the pier and
mount.  I never knew a pier offset was required in a dome for a fork
mounted scope but it made perfect sense to me after reading your post.

Simon's Rock College (where my wife works) once considered converting a
2 story silo next to one of their buildings into an observatory.  I
always wondered how a 2 story concrete pier could be constructed that
would be vibration free.  I would think, with my limited understanding
of engineering, that something that tall and unsupported from the sides
would have significant movement at the top, at least enough to cause
problems with a 16" scope though it seems my assumptions are incorrect
based on your current setup.
