My grandfather was a LAPD motorcycle officer and was part of the escort when
they moved the 'Goose - in pieces - from Hughes' Culver City plant (just
down the hill from my parent's current house) down to the LA harbor.
Somewhere we had a news clipping with a photo showing him out in front on
his Indian, though it might have been a Harley by then.
I've been trying to find a decent print of that for ages. Best I've been
able to do is pull up similar shots on the Corbis/Bettman/Bill Gates
collection website, but they're not the same as the one we had.
I'm really looking forward to seeing Gary's photos :) What an AWESOME
opportunity! Somewhere I've got some shots I took with my grandpa's XA when
we went to visit the plane while it was still in CA, probably in the late
80's or early 90's. It was the first time he'd seen the plane all in one
piece!
