"I am worried what people will think when I take photos using a camera that
looks like it has been through a war" - they will think you have just
returned from a war-zone!

I think you will find the results of re-painting with commercially available
paint to be disappointing when you consider the effort required for a
halfway decent finish. By which I mean dismantling the top and bottom
covers and the panel surrounding the lens bayonet, stripping down to bare
metal, priming and re-finishing with air-brush. You would need to do all
the panels to ensure consistemcy of colour and sheen. And you might end up
with a finish less durable than you started with - but perhaps you intend it
fir display rather than use?

A better alternative in my view would be to use a brass-blacking solution of
the exposed bare metal. It won't exactly duplicate the finish, but it will
darken the bright metal quickly and cheaply. Available from Micro-tools in
Germany (and US) under Brichwood-Casey brand.

Subject: [OM] repainting/repairing paint work on a om3 (black)

My first post!
I have aquired a black om3 from my father that has had a LOT of use (swaped
it for a cannon T90 body and a Tamron 60-3000SP adaptal 2 zoom)...
The om3 works fine but there is a lot of paint wear and paint missing in
many places. Is it possible to repaint the effected areas without repainting
the entire thing using paints available in the uk and get a reasonable
finish matching the original paint? I don't want to sell it (one of the
conditions of the deal with my father) but I am worried what people will
think when I take photos using a camera that looks like it has been through
a war. Not to mention any effects of the enviroment on the exposed metal
surfaces.
Regards
James
