The Tamron lens has a circumference about 1/8" greater than a Zuiko. The Olympus tripod adapter can be modified to work fairly well with the Tamron 80-200 f2.8. The pin that fits in the Zuiko lens groove needs to be filed off, the two pins in the adapter foot need to be unscrewed/removed and the hole that the thumb screw passes through needs to be slightly elongated. When the tripod adapter is clamped around the Tamron lens there will be about a 1/8" gap where the adapter clamps shut. Ideally a longer thumb screw would be used but I've been using the original thumb screw - it screws in about 4 complete revolutions. The rubber lining the tube clamp of the tripod adapter is slightly thicker than black electrical tape and should probably be replaced with the tape to gain a little more inside diameter. I didn't do that.

I recently got a Tamron tripod adapter that was included with a 2x teleconverter. It doesn't feel quite as sturdy as the modified Olympus tripod adapter. The Tamron adapter has a channel in the tube clamp for a pad. Mine probably doesn't have the original pad. The sides of the channel actually extend past the pad in places. I'm using the clamp with some other smaller Tamron lenses that have knurled grips (such as the 2x adapter) which provide a good surface for it to grab. It works nicely for these lenses. Mine might be slightly different than what was ideally used with the 80-200 f2.8 but the diameter is correct and it looks like the pictures of the ones I've seen. I suspect it is the same. I'm going to leave the Olympus tripod adapter on the 80-200 f2.8.

Hopefully John still has an Olympus tripod adapter.

I recently picked up a Tamron 80-20mm F2.8 lens missing the tripod mount.
Does anyone now where a tripod collar for this lens can be purchased,
manufactured, traded, stolen? My searches on the web have proven pointless.
This hunk of glass screams for tripod support.
