How did the 35-70/3.5-4.5 die (if it's not too personal a question) ?

Technical description follows :

the focusing bit at the front came off after I tried screwing on the wrong
lens hood too hard. When it wouldn't all fit back together properly both
main pieces underwent massive deceleration caused by a rapid impact with the
living room wall. My technician, Genna, then throughly inspected and cleaned
said pieces but only caused more damage.... mind you, I was not unduly
surprised at this as she is a 7 stone German Shepherd.

In my defence, the thing had been giving me problems and the local Oly
repair specialist had quoted £80 + parts + VAT (17.5%) minimum to look at
it.

I did like that lens, really I did.
