Well, since I'm a "digester" someone probably has already mentioned that
Mars rises in the east later in the evening. What i'd like to add is
that there are lots of shareware programs out there that act like
planatariums so you can actally see on the screen what the sky looks
like. I have one set to show the sky looking out my window anytime day
or night, rain or shine. This is handy for finding out "What _is_ that
bright object?" Another use I've found is determining the azimuth of the
rising moon  in order to set up a photo oportunity. e.g. I've found out
that the full moon rises directly behind Mt Baker in February,
unfortunately clear days in Feb a few and far between.

Stella Theater and MyStars are two popular ones for windoze. Personally
I like an old DOS program I've had for years, SkyGlobe. Blazingly fast,
minimal size and no distracting eye candy.
