Ahh, so the shop can actuall sell without adding the VAT, when
selling outside the EU. I did not know that - thanks Roger :)

Here in Canada, exports are not subject to sales taxes, either provincial or
federal. The taxes are simply not added to the stated base price. For
domestic sales, these taxes are above and extra to the sticker prices shown
on the shelf which is different from the UK where VAT is embedded in the
sticker price.

I have bought a few items out of the UK and you would not believe the fuss
and aggrevation I have had to go through to get the seller to remove the
VAT. Asking the seller to reduce the the stated VAT inclusive price by 17.5
/ 117.5 has gone over the heads of some people. Others have cited reams of
paperwork and administrative upset as reasons to charge the VAT.

I suspect that a nice little scam is being run by a few exporters who
include VAT in their export prices and then retain the tax when making
periodic remittances to the tax department.
