Thanks for the advice, everyone.  It's academic now but this new url worked for 
me even after a boot.

On the left is the raw Photo CD with the primo "shadow-detail option".  I just 
resized it to 600 pixels tall / 72 dpi then saved it
as .jpg.

The one on the right is the current version of what I "saw".  I'm not happy yet 
with some of the burning (like the red flower that I
should have desaturated in the lower right which became cyan.

I used a scan of a Vogue shot of Claudia Schiffer to dial in the perfect 
Caucasian flesh tone.  Hey, it's not work that way!  It's
not sharpened yet and the caster at the bottom still needs work.  Still, it's 
the best blacks I've ever captured.  There must be 4
shades there!  The far left is 255,255,255 and I brought the edge of the stage 
up a bit to make it more 3 dimensional.  It's coming
along.
