Tom, you take a Tamron 300/2.8 and put it on a Canon EOS or a Nikon and it 
grows accordingly- (1.6x for the Canon I believe).
The  Olympus 300/2.8 is not smaller than any other 300/2.8 out there.  The 
camera makes the difference.
