I think Nikon was the first company to start dealing with the issue
with the "high point" cameras, after the OMs were designed. It was
carried over into some point and shoot cameras. You can tell because of
the huge hump on the camera devoted to viewing. It looks ungainly to
me, but probably worth it to someone who really needs to see the field
of view at a distance.
