I remember his saying somewhere in print that though many good papers were 
then(c. 1980) NLA, his current choice (Ilford Galerie -- a FB paper) was a 
good paper. You may be right, but the general impression people seemed to have 
at the time was that the number of good papers, at least, was diminishing.  
Less silver, more greenish bromide, more slick RC sooty cr*p.

I know he dried his test prints in a microwave.  That's better technology.:)
