Just some clarification (sorry, Jan. No insult meant and
they might be what people would call "semantics" anyway):

The 5050 has a hotshoe (no PC terminal though).

The 5050 has two media slots, though for different media.
it takes Smartmedia or xD in one slot, and CompactFlash in
the other, but in theory it has "two media slots" in which
you can do the same back-ups. Does the E10 have two slots
of the same media type? I'm curious, as I considered an
E10, but decided that the 5050 could be my interim and
see-if-I'm-interested digital camera until/if I decide on
a "system".

You can manually adjust white-balance, but there's no
"degrees K", as Jan says.

One thing Jan mentioned which for me is quite significant
also is the "SLR" business. The 5050 viewfinder is very
crappy. I miss that "through-the-lens" business when
using it.

Oh, and if you want to directly compare their spec's, go here:

http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/compare_post.asp

and pick both cameras (add in the E20 and compare too if you're
interested. If for whatever reason the above link doesn't work,
you can get to the "Compare" screen from the main webpage
http://www.dpreview.com by clicking on "Buying Guide", and
"Side-by-side" on the left-hand column menu.

Hope this helps (probably won't - I found my "shortlist" became
a "longlist" the more I looked).

Cheers
Marc
