I expect that renting one for a few days would be almost as expensive as
buying. The Epson 2450 can scan 'up to 6" x 9" transparency' with 2400dpi
resolution. I suspect you could scan a strip of four frames all at once, or
as four smaller areas. Maybe even two or three strips at a time... I think
these run about $400, which is about what the lower resolution 35mm film
scanners cost. I have the Polaroid SprintScan 4000, I would recommend the
new version of that (Sprintscan 4000+) if you decide to buy a film scanner.
You can scan 6 images at a time, in strips of 6, or four mounted slides. But
it is only 35mm... I'm thinking of getting the Epson if I ever do any medium
format, and also as a flatbed upgrade for my Umax 1200S which is getting a
bit old...
