I've looked through a number of HTML books, and the one I find I look to is
a basic little book called "HTML 4 For the World Wide Web" by Elizabeth
Castro. It's part of a series called Visual Quickstart guides, and although
it is basic I found it easy to follow and with enough info to get stuff
working.
