I think the problem is wide angle focusing error, many people may have
overlooked it, the DOF at F2 is very small. I found the 35/2 at F2
provide very sharp photos and also for the 50/1.4 wide open (later
version, the 3xx,xxx at close distance-wide open is very poor) but
"sharp" is only limited to the area that are in focus. I found my
photos were much better when I have changed to matte area focusing but
it need some practice to do with wide angle lenses.

The range finder is much easier to focus so that some people may found
the range finder's lenses are better but I think it was just focusing
problem.
