"I'd suggest that denatured alcohol is probably worse for cleaning as it has
had some noxious substance added to make it difficult to drink."

Denatured alcohol is ethyl (drinking) alcohol mixed with methyl (wood)
alcohol. Methyl alcohol is poisonous. I don't know the minimum dose, but
drinking "enough" of it will cause irreversible blindness.

It's called "denatured" alcohol for a good reason. Don't drink it!

Twice in my life I misthreaded my camera (a Nikon in college, an Olympus
several years ago). In both cases I caught the error in time and was able to
retake the pictures.

I've never turned the rewind knob the wrong way. Most people are
right-handed, so the natural (?) way to rewind is to hold the camera in your
left hand and turn the knob clockwise.

Just curious -- are the people who turned the knob the wrong way
left-handed?
