"Carbonic acid" is simply carbon dioxide dissolved in water. (In fact,
carbon dioxide was originally called "carbonic acid gas.") All carbonated
beverages -- not just Coca Cola -- contain it.
Some soft drinks taste like little more than carbonated phosphoric acid. The
original Diet Coke tasted like fizzy battery acid.
