I really, really hate to ask this, because it's likely going to expose me
for the ignoramus I vehemently deny that I am. But I was looking at the
description of the Tamron 90/2.8 I just bought off the evil thing, and this
piqued my curiosity:

OPTICAL CONSTRUCTION: 9 elements in 10 groups

Okay, now, how can there be more groups than elements? Is there a
switch-hitter in there somewhere -- like maybe a floating element that gets
counted as part of two different groups?

I am probably going to be embarassed when I find out everybody knows the
answer but me. But, then, what the hell! The Force is strong; we're
having a meeting, and everybody's drinking beer here.

Walt
