In the discussion about the OM4Ti power drain with meter off, no one has
suggested how long the batteries might actually last. There are several
different types of SR44 cell. My Maplin catalogue (electronic component
suppliers in UK) lists 3 different types, suitable for "high drain", "low
drain", and "normal" applications, but their capacity does not vary much --
165mAh (milli-amp-hour) for the first two, 150mAh for the third. Using
this, one can work out how long the battery would last if the camera were
put away in a cupboard with fresh batteries.

OM4Ti:
Lee Hawkins' web site specified 0.007mA as the power drain, and John H.
quoted 0.005mA. The worst case (150mAh battery with 0.007mA drain) gives a
lifetime of 893 days -- roughly 2.4 years. The best case (165mAh battery
with 0.005mA drain) gives a lifetime of 1375 days -- roughly 3.8 years.

OM4 (original curcuit):
John H. specified 0.035mA as the power drain. This gives a lifetime of 179
days with a 150mAh battery -- roughly 0.5 years.

OM2SP:
Lee Hawkins' web site specified 0.020mA as the power drain. This gives a
lifetime of 313 days with a 150mAh battery -- roughly 0.9 years.

The lifetimes calculated above are the longest that you could expect if you
did not use the camera; in practice, any enthusiastic Zuikoholic is likely
to achieve shorter battery lifetimes.
