[OM] Bandpassing

I've been thinking about trying some bandpass filtering to enhance
sharpness of architectural photographs. There are two obstacles to my
ambitions, however:

First, the price of a suitable 550 nm filter runs a bit over $200. Does
anyone know of a source of used filters of this type that I expect might
be more affordable?

Second, these filters appear to be available [say, from Anderson] in
filter diameters of 25 and 50 mm. Is it absurd to think of a step-down
ring from 50 to 49 mm? or even to consider a 50 to 55 mm ring to use it
on 55 mm Zuiko lenses?

Now that I've written all this down, I'm beginning to wonder whether
it'd be worth the trouble to pursue the experiment [grin].
