  Welcome back Albert, about your 2X, the conventional
wisdom is that you should try to stop the combo down
at least 2 stops. Of course you have already comitted
to buy this one so don't worry about quality, just try
it out and see how well it works for you, if you like
it, well and good, if not don't dispair, just unscrew
the optics from it and use it as 25mm extention tube.
As for the 28-70 f2.8, can't help on that one, I rhink
Tamron still makes a 28-105 f2.8 in the adaptal 2
interchangeable mount; big, heavy, and about $800 new.
