| I believe the only difference is the color of the case and the way it
connects to the computer. I assume the majority of potentail customers
would prefer the plug and play convenience of USB. They only had the
SCSI version when I bought mine. Both hardware and software installation
went smoothly for me, but one does have to open up the computer and
install the SCSI card. I think SCSI is a faster interface, but I suspect
that both are probably capable of transmitting the fastest data stream
the scanner produces. I'll bet the motor that moves the film past the
read head runs at the same speed in both. The effective speed of getting
a usable image seems to depend as much on processor, memory and software
as on the scanner, maybe more.

I was wondering if anybody had any expertise with these two scanners. They
seem to be similar in specs. Is the scsi version as fast as the usb one. If
the newer one usb is better is it $120 better? $329 vs. $449. Hope some one
has some answers.
