Those of you (like me) whose meteor shot didn't turn out, don't despair we
have a second chance coming. I found the following information on
Celestron's website: http://www.celestron.com/

"The Gemini Meteor Shower on the 13th and 14th of December will peak at
about 110-130 per hour after 10 PM. We are fortunate this year as the moon
will not be a factor and, weather permitting, this should be a spectacular
show. Additionally, we have two eclipses in the month! There will be an
annular solar eclipse on the 14th visible from the west coast of the U.S.
through the Midwest. And, the entire North American Continent will have a
wonderful view of the lunar penumbral eclipse of the moon on Dec. 30. This
event should be especially spectacular since rather than disappearing; the
moon will appear quite orange, as it is eclipsed by the outer shadow of the
Earth and thus entirely visible during the entire event. Times will vary
locally on both eclipses so check your local newspaper, observatory or
several web sites that specialize in eclipses to give exact times for your
location."

Sound like we have a chance at some spectacular shots and an opportunity to
redeem ourselves.

Rich
