That's the beauty of SLRs. What you see is what you
get. But you can't really control the "amount" of
distortion, which is fixed into the lens formula. But
you can control by choice of subject matter, the
appearance of that distortion. Anytime you take photos
of buildings, the fisheye effect is apparent and
cannot be avoided. But out in nature, you can minimize
the distortion effect.
