Well, I'd be lying if I didn't immediately report my immense
satisfaction with the custom John H. 2-4 screen. Complete brightness
and sharpness throughout the image on my 16/3.5!

This observation brings me to the only major comparison between the two:
where the Beattie may have a bit more brightness, it has noticeable
fall-off at the edges when used with my 24 shift, 18/3.5 and 16/3.5.
However, with anything longer than an 85/2, the Beattie shows more
brightness and clarity and may be better than a 2-series. A true camera
nut would keep both, and have corresponding bodies for telephoto and
wide angle, but since I want to keep the outfit lean, I suppose that I
could live w/o the Beattie. A great screen, but not that useful w/ wide
angle lenses, which is most of my work....
