Hi, Sam:

Try using a 50/1.4 and a correction filter. Can't remember if the
tungstan-to-daylight correction filter is an 82 or 84, but it'll take alot of
the red outta the shots. I once used a 50/1.4 with the correction filter
and 1600 film to do natural light shots at an evening party indoors, and
the results came out darned good, albeit grainy (but what do you
expect?).

Personally, I wouldn't use the flash. It would just spoil the effect, IMHO.
Like Roger just said, put a few candles in strategic places (no, not
*there* silly!) to cut-down on the shadows.

One last comment... the candlelight photos I've seen that impressed
me have all be tightly composed head shots with the candle(s) in the
frame... f'instance, a shot of a child blowing out birthday candles.

Just my humble opinion. YMMV, of course.

Regards,

Chris
