Hello Henrik

I bought the camera from a well-known second-hand dealer in Christchurch
NZ, and the circuit-board failed in the first month after purchase (all
exposures on automatic were at 1/1000 th second whether I liked it or not).

Not in my case.

So I took it back for repair under warranty. They tried several servicemen but
none were prepared to take on the circuit-board, so reluctantly they took it to
the agents. The initial quote was for about $300 NZ, but the final amount after
the job was done was about $NZ 550, take it or leave it.

These people charge like a wounded bull, as the saying goes, which is why
they were the call of last resort.

OM4Ti come up for sale in shops only rarely in NZ ( I was not really aware of
eBay etc then) and the shop owner knew that I REALLY wanted this camera.
However, since I paid him only $700NZ for it (cosmetically it looks rough) he
was going to lose money on the deal; so I have since given him more than
$100 to sweeten the deal. I may yet give him more.

CLA is always part of the package with Perrys, the NZ agents. Everything
they repair gets a going-over.

They would not have taken the job from me, coming off the street. I was
fortunate that the fault happened when it did.

So now, for $800NZ, I have a functionally new OM4Ti. Who cares about the
looks. I treat it like a new one. They are still available new here, for about
$3,400 NZ, body only. About the only thing that might fail now is the cloth
shutter. Interestingly, several have come up for sale here since I bought this
one; all more costly.
