: It was a brilliant idea before it's time, when it was

>From their web site (http://www.siliconfilm.com/), last update September 15,
2001:

"The EFS-1 system and its components will be available directly from Silicon
Film Technologies. The EFS-1 will be available initially in North America
following FCC approval and then in the European community after CE
certification. Shipment dates will be established after required
certifications are obtained.

Integrated system certification tests of the e-film and e-port have revealed
an unanticipated interference that was not visible in the separate tests.
The technical resolution of this issue is understood, requiring a
modification at a key location in the product. However, implementation of
this solution will delay the initial delivery of the EFS-1. During this
delay and in response to feedback from beta test customers, we will use this
time to incorporate recommended enhancements and to add cameras to the list
compatible with the EFS-1."

Bla, bla, bla, bla.

So here they're telling us that this 'product', which they announced some
five years ago, but never put into (mass) production, is still suffering
from major problems.

I wonder if their chief IT engineer was trained by Microsoft....
