Apparently, three of these hit the mail list in rapid succession yesterday (as quoted from the digest archives:

I believe they are the remnants of three postings I made while my ISP's SMTP (email) server was brought down completely by the W32/Nimba virus. It accounts for three postings to the list sent last week, originally with a subject and text, that never showed up in the archives or my OM inbox (coming back from the listserver).

Appears my ISP has pretty much recovered although it took from Tuesday night until some time late Friday or early yesterday. Had an avalanche of almost 400 emails yesterday with dates ranging from the 21st-23rd. Looks like they were able to recover some of the mail. Since they look so cryptic (devoid of everything including subject), thought I would post an explanation of what's been going on. My best guess? The subject and text in them didn't survive the SMTP server crash. Similar to what you get when the USPS mangles a letter beyond all recognition and delivers the surviving shard of paper with the address on it.

BTW, I strongly suggest everyone running a Windows OS box update the anti-virus software and do as thorough a scan as possible. McAfee's update for both scan engine and virus data to detect and clean out W32/Nimba was released just last Thursday. Norton AV also very likely requires the absolute latest updates too. I've run McAfee AV across my box three times since then and not found anything, so it looks like I escaped getting this worm from my ISP.

Those using:
+ Internet Explorer 5.01 or 5.5 without the Service Pack 2 update
+ any Windows OS successor to Win98 that has IIS
There are some security patches from Microsoft for specific versions of Internet Explorer and Windows OS's that have IIS. You can read more about it here on McAfee's AV site:
