Here is an interesting shot taken at the southern boundary of the
community in which I live in Greater Vancouver. The two plank bridges
seen in the middle of the photo will take the walker across the 49th
parallel. British Columbia, Canada is to the right and the road is in
the state of Washington, USA. The border is the centre of the ditch and
runs parallel to the roadway for several miles. Despite being quite open
the entire border seen here is monitored electronically by the US border
patrol and any movement across the border will be recorded. The photo
was taken on Sunday 12 August.
